So another years awards have been and gone, did the results go the right way? Well Marty Scorsese finally bagged the director award and best film, which is pretty fair, of the films nominated it was probably the best. As was predicted the actor and actress gongs went to Helen Mirren and Forrest Whittaker, seems if you play a real person these days you win an oscar! Jennifer Hudson won for Dreamgirls, which was also expected and I was glad to see Alan Arkin win for Little Miss Sunshine, he was brilliant in that film, and had tough competition from Mark Wahlberg and Eddie Murphy. One of the biggest surprises was that Pan’s Labyrinth didn’t win best Foreign Language film considering the rave reviews it’s had. In the best Animated catergory I was surprised Happy Feet won, though I haven’t seen it I thought Cars wa great and Monster House was brilliant. Overall It seemed that the oscars went where they were expected, so now we look forward to what the year 2007 has instore for us at the movies and who or what will be winning the golden baldies next year.

On a similar track the Golden Raspberry awards were announced the previous day and the bigger winner (or is that loser) was Basic Instinct 2 with four awards including Worst Film and Worst Actress for Sharon Stone, and M Night Shyamalan won a couple for, Lady In The Water, which wasn’t that bad!
