In a case of, ‘why didn’t somebody do that before’ the news has come out today, that there is going to be a movie made about Eddie ‘The Eagle’ Edwards. The Plasterer turned ski jumper who went to the 1988 Winter Olympics and came dead last but became a national hero and won many fans throughout the world. With it being the ultimate underdog story it is a surprise it hasn’t been made before, but now it is. It’s made by a producer who worked on A Passage To India and directed by a TV comedy director who once directed an episode of Father Ted. Yes big names! But it does have a bit of star pedigree, Steve Coogan is playing the short sighted flyer in the movie which is originally being called ‘Eddie The Eagle’. Look for it’s release sometime during next years Olympic Year.
